Description描述

THYOSIL CXP5045 is a multifunctional polymer specially designed to restore molecular weight and IV (intrinsic viscosity) in degraded polymers.

THYOSIL CXP5045 allows to upgrade low quality recycle and can be used during processing to increase the melt strength of polyesters or polyamide. THYOSIL CXP5045 also has high epoxy functionality, this allows for rapid reaction with condensation thermoplastics, resulting in higher molecular weight.

Pre-drying

Pre-dry the base plastic at manufacturer’s recommended conditions.

In some instances small amounts of THYOSIL CXP5045 can be compensated for poor or incomplete drying, thus bringing robustness and saving to your operations.

Hygroscopicity: there is no evidence of bulk absorption of moisture over extended periods of time for THYOSIL CXP5045.

At normal conditions of temperature and relative humidity its surface reaches equilibrium saturation through adsorption at less than 0,25% of moisture.

At extreme conditions its surface reaches equilibrium saturation at less than 0,50% of moisture.

This means that THYOSIL CXP5045 can generally be processed without any drying, even after long exposure to drastic conditions bringing no more than 5ppm moisture per every 0,1% used.

Ins systems where moisture sensitivity is extreme, THYOSIL CXP5045 can be dried in a desiccant dryer ant30°Cfor 1 hour, prior to use.

Where feeding solid THYOSIL CXP5045 in any solid form, except masterbatch, into the first zone of the extruder or infection molder, we recommend to operate this zone at20°Cto40 °Clower temperature than normal. This will prevent early melting and agglomeration of the additive.

All other zones should employ normal processing condition as recommended by the plastic’s manufacturer.

THYOSIL CXP5045 is thermally stable up to 320°C. Above this temperature additive decomposition may occur.

Residence time

THYOSIL CXP5045 reacts quickly. Its reaction will be over 99% complete if at least 3 min residence time is provided at200°Cin a well-mixed system. Alternatively, 45 sec residence time at280°Cwill provide 99% completion.

These limits accommodate most extrusion and injection molding processed for the recommended thermoplastics and applications.

Extruder pressure effects挤出机压力效应

The use of THYOSIL CXP5045 inreactive extrusion or reactive injection molding operations increases significantly the molecular weight, this lead to an increase in melt viscosity, which in turn raises the pressure observed in the equipment.

The table below exemplifies the large increases in die pressure that are observed in PET as THYOSIL CXP5045 is added to a large extruder. Similar increases are expected in other plastics.

The pressure increases both at the die and in front screen system may be 25% to 100% higher than typical operating pressure for higher usage levels. Instantaneous pressure variations and spikes are due to large instantaneous changes in melt viscosity. At constant temperature, changes in melt viscosity are often due to variable feed rate and/or poor mixing.

Troubleshooting故障排除

Ø      In case of unexpected high pressure:如出现意想不到的高压:

(1)

Decrease the feed rate of THYOSIL CXP5045.降低THYOSIL CXP5045的进料速度。

  Decrease the RPM. This decrease pressure on single screw extruders and flood-fed twin-screw extruders, and will decrease hating on starve-fed twin-screw extruders.)

  Slowly increase the temperature, starting from the die and then from the last to the zone.
